blackbird

"blackbird singing in the dead of night..."
i love that song... the beatles ruled it hard and ever since i first heard it i wanted to draw a picture on it. now this is really far from what i first had in mind when started the picture... it should have been a very gloomy, grey weathered and black clothed picture with crows... as i went along with the drawing it got a very japanese-chinese look (or atleast i think so >.< ) so i went on with it.

so... right now when i look at this picture i dont hear blackbird at all.... it sure isnt the dead of night (more like dawn on a stormy day XD ) but i couldnt be happier with this drawing... my best yet in my opinion.... it took countless hours and i worked on it for weeks... had diffrent versions all through the drawing (if someone is ever intrested in seeing the process of this drawing just let me know XD ).

and man do i love the blackbirds (aka Turdus merula) they visit my garden sometimes... although very simple looking i love their bright orange beaks and they do make a great sound.

i did use references for few things... especially the bird. and the bottom part of the dress, the blossoms, are a pattern from someone here in DA.
